“My conclusion after this year, is that if a child wants to learn something they can do it anywhere, given the right encouragement and facility to do so.”
This is a quote from the post Do we need school to learn? which was hosted on our Home School Journal page that documented some of our Home School Journey.
For nearly nine years we’ve been posting occasional articles at Home School Journal which was hosted at https://homeschooljournal.co.uk (now redirected to this page).
In May 2026 we’ve decided to pull the shutters down on that particular site, closing it with almost 100 articles that record specific experiences or subjects.
The very first post, published on 30th June 2015, recorded our decision to start home educating our children, the last post, published on 31st October 2020 documented a topic on mushrooms.
The most popular post was “Famous Artists – Bob Ross” with nearly a million views, followed by “Separating Home from School” with over 36,000 views. All other pages had between 2,000 and 3,500 views.

My personal favourite was of course “Coding with Dad on the Dragon 32”
It’s a shame to let this site go, but there’s a cost in keeping the site up; the value is in the memories we recorded. All articles are now stored offline in an archive for future reference.
